Eating for Life Nutrition

The Eating for Life concept is based on the idea that "diets" or "dieting" are foolish attempts to "win a war" with food. Not only is this a war that cannot be won...it should not even be fought! A persons "diet", should only refer to what that person normally eats!

A proper diet of nutritious whole foods is the most important part of the Body for LIFE program. Everything depends upon it!

  • Increased metabolism

  • Fuel for energy

  • Raw materials for muscle growth and recovery

  • The building blocks

I'm not going to tell you how much protein is needed, what kinds of carbs are best, which fats are good...That is what the books are for!

The biggest challenge is providing the frequent feedings of proper nutrition a Body for Life soldier needs to grow big and strong! Think about this...if you are doing the Body for Life 12 week Challenge you are looking at consuming 504 meals during the 84 day duration! Then...enjoying 2,190 "feedings" each and every year thereafter...

In fact, I think Bill Phillips new book, Eating-for-LIFE...

... should have been named - "Being-in-a-perpetual-state-of-Eating-24-hours-a-day-for-the-Rest-of-your-LIFE!"

Most of us know that the metabolism is fueled up by eating small meals frequently (every 3 hours or so). The task is to eat the right foods, in the right amounts, in the right combinations, at the right times. Bon Appétit !

The South Beach Diet ???

OK...I know it's a "diet" but there are some things that make it very useful. Like good ideas, planning tools, recipes, support groups, shopping lists, a journal, reminders and much more to help you get quality carbs and nutrition down your neck...adapt the Eating for Life concepts to existing plans with plenty of features and resources and you have a powerful tool.

Here's what I love about the South Beach Diet. It wasn't written by a diet doctor. I was written by a cardiologist, Dr. Arthur Agatston, (with a little help from the former chief clinical dietician at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach) to lower his patients' risk of heart attack and stroke — not to help them look better in their bikinis.

In fact, Dr. Agatston's original name for it?: The Modified Carbohydrate Diet.

Just not glamorous enough apparently for the South Beach area where Dr. Agatston's wife notes that people don't care what they died of...only that they are thin when they do...

What you want is nutrient density, fiber and some good oils...My basic message is, everything in moderation. It does come down to calories in, calories out.  - Dr. Arthur Agatston
 

And with the South Beach Diet, you eat enough vegetables to keep from going into ketosis (that nirvana-like state of supposed fat burning in the Atkins Diet) which many experts agree is a much healthier and less stressful on the body method. Maybe that's also why this eating plan gets better criticism from other medical experts and nutritionists than Atkins.

You could certainly eat worse...but just learning about how to use the Glycemic Index (to graduate from Carb Kindergarten) and how to concentrate on useful (and essential) fats makes it a worthwhile guideline.

Review - Muscle Building Nutrition from Will Brink

Will Brink's "Muscle Building Nutrition" is in my opinion the the most complete, comprehensive and easy to understand information published to date on "how to eat to achieve lean muscle gains". (It has even been described by bodybuilding legend Lee Labrada as a "must read").

The author, Will Brink, is a genuine sports nutrition and supplementation expert, with all the credentials to prove it - not just another of the many "self acclaimed experts" that seem to appear everywhere on the Internet these days. (This fact in itself makes Muscle Building Nutrition worthy of further investigation!)

The fact is that anyone who's been working out for any length of time knows that your efforts in the gym will largely go unrewarded if you don't eat correctly. In fact many experts say that if you're trying to build lean muscle as much as 80% of your end results are down to correct nutrition and rest - NOT training. This being true it simply makes no sense at all to go to the gym without learning how to eat correctly...

...And Will's information is quite simply the very best out there in my opinion to help you achieve this - for two simple reasons:
